Second week in school, already had a field trip and soon to have another. The first field trip was to Victory Junction Gang Camp in Randleman, NC.Victory Junction is a camp for kids 6-16 that have terminal illnesses and other physical needs. The families are allowed to come on certain weekends, the kids aren't billed for their stay and all their medical needs are tended to. It was a really fun experience and makes me want volunteer there some time.
The reason behind the field trip was to get idea for designing a camp for our commercial design class. The camp will be catering to traditional campers as well as special needs children age 8-14. We have to design the camp to support fun and excitment for both types of campers, including nurses' station, restrooms, storage area, stage with prop room and activety area. We also get to design the area for private residence, executive office and conference room. We were assigned to create and name and logo for the facility as well. It's excited and overwhelming at the same time. I've never done any type of advertising, so I hope all goes well.
Our next field trip is to Mary's House in Greensboro, NC. I'll be back with more details about the trip later or about anything else fun that we get to do.
